Siyyid `Al Muammad (Persian: ) (October 20, 1819 – July 9, 1850) was the founder and prophet of Bbism. He was a merchant from Shrz, who at the age of twenty-five claimed to be the promised Q'im (or Mihd). After his declaration he took the title of Bb (Arabic: ) meaning 'Gate.' Six years later he was shot by a firing squad in Tabrz. His titles include, among others, the 'Primal Point' and the 'Point of the Bayn.' Bah's claim that the Bb was the forerunner of their own religion. Bah'u'llh, the founder of the Bah' Faith, was a follower of the Bb and claimed to be the fulfillment of his promise that God would send another messenger.
